This is an electro-acoustic piece with the human voice as the core material. The piece is inspired by current news, including controversial topics such as depression, sexual assault and school bullying. The vocals are used to record a brief narrative of a real event, creating a third person perspective of the person's journey from the depths of the abyss to the light of hope. This piece focuses on the process of the person involved in the more controversial topics, from the abyss to hope. It also uses sound development to try to show the metamorphic process of external environmental influences and psychological changes.
The piece is divided into three sections.
The central point of section A is the process of the subject's being experienced and falling into the abyss, using the vocal narration as an entry point, with Auto Filter Automation processing and fleshing out with MIDI synthesisers.
The B section takes the process of the subject sinking into the abyss and slowly seeing the light from the abyss, and the structure of the B is also divided into two sections. In the first half, the vocal slices are used to express the discussion and debate that surrounds the sinking; in the second half, metallic material is used as the theme, supplemented by MIDI synthesisers to describe the psychological struggle. The metallic sound is altered with the Phaser-Flanger, but still retains a metallic quality that enhances the atmosphere of the struggle.
The C section is centred on seeing hope, but here it does not indicate salvation, but rather 'seeing' hope. The "dissonant sound materials" take the form of a different kind of struggle, which is contrasted with the traditional sense of salvation by the "bells" and the brightness of the sound created by the Granular-to-go and other MIDI synths. This is in contrast to the traditional sense of salvation, which also represents the fact that despite seeing the light, there is not always true acceptance or "forgiveness".
